Rally at the Capitol: The People vs. Scott Walker
Tuesday, June 14th
***Part of these "Extraordinary Measures" calls for something they don't expect. Hundreds of cops are being bussed in. They expect us to riot. I'm sure there will be paid /planted agitators. Walker's admitted to considering it in the past. This is a call for deafening silence INside our house. Let's pack it full and let our silent scorn send a message. The world IS watching!
The Assembly Organization Committee has placed the state budget into an "Extraordinary Session" scheduled to begin 11 a.m. Tuesday June 14th.
Extraordinary Sessions are very rare and seldom used for the Budget. In an Extraordinary Session action can not be postponed, points of order are decided within one hour, the daily calendar is ef...fective immediately upon posting and does not have to be distributed, motion to advance legislation and message it to the other house only required a majority vote of those present, the session can be expanded to include any other legislation, including new legislation (financial martial law?) and "No notice of hearing before a committee shall be required other than posting on the legislative bulletin board, and no bulletin of committee hearing shall be published.
In other words the Republicans can do anything they want to and do it very quickly with the only notice being a piece of paper on the bulletin board outside the chamber. Next they will decide that for the good of the public they will close the sessions. (via Jim Mueller)
We need to rise up. 300 extra cops are already being called in. Two more doors are being opened. Crockpots still not allowed - but YOUR VOICE will let them smell what's cooking!
11:00am – Marches begin at Walkerville on Capitol Square
5:30pm – The People vs. Scott Walker Rally at the Square and State St.
Marches begin at Walkerville on the Capitol square at 11:00am, when the Assembly
session starts, and will continue throughout the day. The rally will start at
5:30pm at the Square and State St., where Scott Walker's budget will be put on
trial. We will judge the morality of Scott Walker's budget, and hold each and
every legislator who votes for Scott Walker's budget accountable for their
actions.
